How to Win the Lottery: I mean, really win it
Imagine you have actually won the lottery. What do you do the very next day? Most people don't know. It's one of the reason why, when lottery winners are asked if they'll quit their jobs, they say no. It's also the reason why some lottery winners spend all their money at a rapid rate, ending up exactly where they started.
Why do you have to wait until you get a certain amount in your bank account before you allow yourself the freedom to enjoy your life?
It boils down to this: are you living to work or working to live?
Lotto 649's slogan is imagine the freedom. Freedom in itself is a myth. Once you remove the need to work, you're left with having to build a life. The odds of winning the lottery are 1 in 12 million. The odds of becoming a millionaire at your own business? Much more realistic! You're better off learning to create that freedom for yourself, by building a business, instead of waiting for those elusive lottery dollars.
As a small business owner, you have a leg up all those people who are just waiting to win the lottery. You've decided to experience the freedom for yourself. Of course it's not all easy. Working for yourself is harder than just buying a ticket. That hard work is a good reason why you need to build in other experiences into your life beyond work.
How?
- Build freedom time into your small business. Just as you take a certain amount of your income to create savings for your retirement (I hope!) you need to do the same with time.
- Create your list of what else you'd like to experience. Call it your bucket list if you will. But don't wait until you're almost about to kick the bucket. And don't wait for the perfect time – it will never come.
- Start the year off with resolutions to explore and take time off.
- If you can, fit in at least one big experience. If you can't find ways to get your freedom list done in manageable chunks. Or add to the list what you can do now.
- Then find ways to enjoy what you'd like to do in little chunks.
- Allocate a certain amount of your time and money to achieving it. We always find time for what is important to us.
If you can do all this, winning the lottery, if it happens, will be a welcome bonus, not your means to financial security.
